Young, Gifted and Black exhibition at Hanes Gallery, January 23-March 29, 2025. Opening Reception February 5.

Hanes Gallery is thrilled to host Young, Gifted and Black, a traveling exhibition of work produced by artists of African descent from the Lumpkin-Boccuzzi Family Collection of Contemporary Art. 

The exhibition will run from January 23 – March 29, 2025. Wake Forest University will be the 9th stop for this nationwide traveling exhibition that only exhibits at academic institutions.  There will be an opening reception Wednesday, February 5, 2025 6:30pm to 8pm which will be preceded by a public lecture/performance by one of the artists in the exhibition, Clifford Owens (5:30 -6:30 PM).

The Lumpkin-Boccuzzi Family Collection features a range of contemporary artworks in all media. Established and emerging artists of African descent predominate, with a special emphasis on younger voices of the last 25 years.
